Adoption Process FAQ's

FAQ-s

An adoption application must be submitted to be considered for placement on either a waiting list (application without deposit submitted) or a reservation list (application, phone conversation and deposit received) for a puppy.

Once an adoption application is submitted, you will be placed on a waiting list for a puppy. If you are committed to getting a puppy from Blue Bay and ready to make a deposit or have made a deposit, please indicate that in your application and you will be contacted by phone.

Once the reservation lists open for a litter, that information will be posted here on our website, FB and Instagram.  This information will include expected pairing of dogs and colors/sizes of the puppies anticipated in the upcoming litters.  We will take 4 reservation spots per litter at this time.  Once the reservation list is full, it will close and no further deposits for that litter will be taken.

Being on the waiting list means you will get these litter updates regarding expected litters 1 day in advance of the postings mentioned above becoming public.  Being on a waiting list will not guarantee you a puppy unless:

1) we have spoken on the phone and
2) a $500.00 non-refundable deposit has been accepted.

Once these 2 items are completed, prospective families will move from the waiting list to a reservation list.

Litter updates will be posted on our website’s Litters page, as well as updated on Instagram and Facebook. Please check back for updates.

You must submit an adoption application, have a phone conversation with Blue Bay and make a $500.00 non-refundable deposit.

Yes, you may, if you are committed to getting a puppy from Blue Bay. But you also must submit an adoption application and have a phone conversation with Blue Bay.

That depends on when you make a deposit relative to others on that list.

We will take your requests for puppy color, coat, sex and size into consideration. We at Blue Bay also plan to do temperament assessments of the puppies at about 6 weeks of age so we can best match the puppies to the specific families. We will do our best to honor a family’s request to the best of our ability but no guarantees are implied or should be expected.

Unfortunately we will not be allowing in-person visits of the pups in order to protect the puppies and keep them healthy. The puppies however will be well socialized to children, adults and dogs alike in our household. We will take several pics of the puppies so you can see them at birth (a litter pic) and then also watch them as they grow with weekly pics starting at 2 weeks of age. We will also include some videos as well along the way.

Puppies will go home at 8 weeks of age.

At the present time, no formal puppy training will be offered. In the growing process, puppies will be well socialized to people and a gentle stimulating environment will be provided to foster their growth and development. They will be introduced to the crate and hear simple commands but due to their young age, no formal training will be completed. Families will be given information regarding the Baxter and Bella online puppy training program as well as a Blue Bay discount code if you are interested in joining their program.
